Profile

I’m Ali. Across most of my working life, my job has come back to one thing: helping people feel comfortable enough to be themselves.

That thread runs through the Australian jersey on a touch football field, a radio studio at 4.30am, major business, sporting and charity events, and now guest experience and tourism.

At my best, I help guests, clients and colleagues feel welcome, looked after and included. Practical and hands-on, I pitch in wherever I’m needed and would rather have a difficult conversation early than let a problem grow.

Experience

Guest experience and events on the Gold Coast.

March 2026 to present

Guest Experience Officer

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

At Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, I look after front-of-house guests.

  • Maintaining a consistent standard of care across high daily visitor volumes, including guests with accessibility and mobility requirements.
  • Handling complaints and difficult moments at the front line with empathy and judgement.
  • Coordinating with multiple departments to help the site run smoothly.
2026 to present

Host & Event Coordinator

Flourish Experiences Gold Coast

At Flourish, I launched the Gold Coast chapter and grew it from nothing to more than fifty women at the first event.

  • Designing events where women can arrive as strangers and leave feeling connected.
  • Managing each event from end to end, including venues, suppliers, logistics and live hosting.
  • Looking after every part of the guest experience, from the first booking through to post-event follow-up.

“I saw how much people crave real experiences, honest conversations and genuine community. That is what I want every event to create.”

Broadcast experience

From community broadcasting to award-winning breaky radio.

Live radio taught me to read a room, hold my nerve and keep a small team working together in public, every morning, with no edit button.

92.5 Triple M Gold Coast

Flan, Ali & Spida

We won ACRA Best On Air Team (Provincial) in 2024, a national award judged on how well a team works together. Our breakfast audience grew sharply that year, narrowing the gap with the market leader. In 2022 the three of us walked 33km from Broadbeach to Coolangatta while broadcasting live and collecting donations. We raised more than $20,000 for flood-hit communities in the Tweed and Northern Rivers.

2017 to 2019

107.3 Triple M Hobart

The Dave Noonan Show with Al Plath

This was my first breakfast role, in a city where I knew nobody. The role included co-fronting Give Me 5 for Kids, where our 2018 campaign raised $526,926 for the Royal Hobart Hospital children’s ward. It also included Hobart’s first International Women’s Day radio special, giving three hours of the show to influential Tasmanian women, including the Leader of the Opposition and the CEO of AFL Tasmania.

Bay FM, Redlands & Triple M Brisbane

Where it started

Community radio at Bay FM came first, followed by Triple M Brisbane and the chance to learn the craft from the ground up before earning my first breakfast role in Hobart.

Listen

Watch and listen.

These selections cover live events and breakfast radio, followed by three mornings from the Triple M Hobart archive: one silly, one serious and one devoted to a children’s hospital appeal.

Representative honours

Seventeen years representing Australia in touch football.

Across those 17 years, I adapted to changing coaches, teammates and standards. That run included World Cups in Sydney and Japan, plus co-captaincy of a mixed squad with professional rugby league players.

Co-captaining a mixed team meant bringing different playing styles, reputations and expectations together under one standard that everybody accepted.

What the armband required of me
Career note

Raising four children across three decades.

Raising four children meant completing the equivalent of two full K-12 cycles, back to back. Every national team campaign, 4.30am start and career move was planned around my family. That is why my timeline looks the way it does, and I would not reorder a day of it.

Community & charity

Using my voice and event experience for the community.

On Triple M Hobart, I co-fronted the annual appeal for the children’s ward. Our 2018 campaign raised $526,926.
